Accounts Payable (AP)
Short-term liabilities a company owes to suppliers for goods or services received but not yet paid for.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Money owed to a company by customers for goods or services that have been delivered but not yet paid for.
Accrued Interest
Interest that has accumulated on a bond, loan, or fixed-income product since the last interest payment date.
Acquisition
The process in which one company purchases another company or its assets, often to expand business operations or market share.
After-hours Trading
Trading that takes place after the regular market trading session has closed.
Aggregation
The process of combining multiple orders, positions, contracts, or data sources to improve exposure management or execution efficiency.
All or None (AON)
An order instruction that requires the entire order to be executed in full, or not executed at all.
American Option
An option contract that can be exercised at any time before or on its expiration date.
Annual Report
A company’s yearly report that provides information about its financial performance, operations, and business strategy.
Annualized Return
The return on an investment expressed as an annual rate, taking into account the investment period and changes in value over time.
Ask Price
The price at which a trader can buy an asset or currency pair in the market.
Asset Class
A group of financial assets that share similar characteristics, market behavior, and regulatory treatment.
Asset-Backed Security (ABS)
A financial security backed by a pool of assets, such as loans, auto loans, credit card receivables, or other income-generating assets.
Asset
An economic resource that has value and can be owned, traded, or used to generate future benefits.
At the Market
An order to buy or sell a financial instrument immediately at the best available market price.
Auction Market
A market where buyers and sellers submit bids and offers, and transactions are matched based on price.
Authorised Shares
The maximum number of shares a company is legally permitted to issue under its corporate documents.
Automated Trading System (ATS)
A computer-based system that automatically executes trades according to predefined rules, algorithms, or trading strategies.
Average Directional Movement Index (ADX)
A technical indicator used to measure the strength of a market trend, regardless of its direction.
Average Down
A strategy of buying more of an asset after its price falls, in order to reduce the average purchase cost.
Average Holding Time
The average length of time a trader keeps positions open before closing them.
Average True Range (ATR)
A technical indicator that measures market volatility by calculating the average range between price highs and lows over a selected period.
Away from the Market
An order placed at a price that is away from the current market price, such as a limit order below or above the prevailing price.
